Saga V2 Orcs vs Gondor (Anglo Saxons vs Normans)

This was a fun battle with my friend Chris. The Norman Gondorians against Orcs using the Anglo Saxon board. The Orcs had a troll which used the elephant rules, and the Gondorians were accompanied by a unit of Dwarves that used the Shield Maiden rules. Looking back I think the Flemish rules are more Dwarven than the shieldmaidens. The battle was taken from the book of battles where the attacker has to burn the buildings and fields.

The orcs won the game by virtue of killing the majority of the Gondorians, but it was a close match mostly won by the troll elephants slaughter of the Gondorian cavalry.

Battle of Saule Diorama

Unfortunately there are some historical inaccuracies here, the Samogitians have some armor types that were likely not around in 1236 and reflect 14th century Lithuanian armor. Furthermore the Samogitians have columns of Gediminas on their shields first attested for Lithuanians in the late 14th century. Additionally a few of the Livonian/Guest crusader knights have late 13th or early 14th century helmet styles

Miniatures are all 3d prints from "Northern Crusades Miniatures". I later found out that the range is designed by different people and it really is reflected in the quality of the different miniatures as well as scale. The purchase of these minis has alrgely turned me off of buying 3d printed miniatures. They are also fragile as compared with metals and plastics.
